Walnut Scone Recipe
We're excited to share the recipe for our walnut scones.
These scones are the perfect combination of crispy and fluffy, with a rich nutty flavor that's sure to satisfy your taste buds.
Ingredients
- 400g self-raising flour, plus extra for dusting
- 100g Trickett’s Grove Walnut Flour
- 15g baking powder
- 50g sugar
- 90g butter
- 150g Trickett’s Grove Walnut Pieces
- 1 Egg
- 280g milk
- 4g vanilla extract
Method
- Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 160 degrees and line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Step 2 – In a large bowl, whisk together the self-raising flour, walnut flour, baking powder, and sugar until well combined.
- Step 3 – Use microwave to melt the butter for 1 minute. Add the butter and rub together with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
- Step 4 – Stir in the chopped Trickett’s Grove Walnut Pieces.
- Step 5 – In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg and vanilla extract. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients. Use a fork to gently mix everything together until just combined. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
- Step 6 – Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Use a sharp knife or pastry cutter to cut the dough into 8 wedges. Use your hand to gently press and shape the dough into the desired shape.
- Step 7 - Transfer the wedge to the prepared baking tray, leaving a little space between each one.
- Step 8 – Bake in the preheat oven for 30 minutes.
- Step 9 - Serve the scones warm with butter and jam, if desired.
